Demantra: "How to" Series

We will be starting a "How to" series, for Demantra which will bring answers to various setup and configuration related queries on Demantra. We will start with basics and then move on to more complex world of Demantra product. In case you have any specific question, then put in comments and we would be glad to include that question in this series.

Hi Raj!

Only one question... after the installation of Demantra 7.1.1, ¿which would be the first step to begin working with Demantra? and if I want to work in a demo environment with data ¿Do I need collect data from EBS or the data is transfer automatically with the installation?

I hope you can understand my question because my english is not the best...

Thanks!!
Gustavo

Hi Gustavo,

good to hear from you again. Well I completely followed your question.

Oracle's Demantra installer will install a demo database as well, which has basic dummy data. Similar to Vision data, what we have in Oracle EBS, Demantra also has demo data.

So you will be able to work on this demo data for getting familiar with application and exploring it.

hope this helps.

Raj

Hi Raj,

Yes, is a pleasure to share your greate blog with you again. I remember when I worked in Oracle and I talked with people from India all day. Besides technical subjects, I learn a lot about your kind of life and practices.

Thanks for you answer! is perfect when I want to explore the application, but ¿when I have to install in a true company "in production"?

Regards,
Gustavo

Gud to see your message again and appreciate your respect for our culture and people. :)

Coming to your query, for a Production instance you need to clean up the Demantra environment before loading any production transaction data for planning. Oracle has provided "DATA_CLEANUP" package as a part of Demantra objects.

You should run the clean up procedure to remove all the demo data from the production environment prior to any real data load in it. This deletes all the demo data from the environment.

Wish you happy Christmas & Holiday seasong.

Raj

Hi Raj,

Sorry but I couldnt answer before. I was in meetings and partys because of christmas and the end of this year. Family, friends, etc...

When you talk about the "data load" it means that exists some functionality where you can run data load or data collect process?

I wish you a happy new year!! An Argentine singer says in one of his songs: "Health, money and love"

Do you know which is the system administrator user where I could see everything?

Thanks!!

Hi Gus,

Thanks for the wishes.

Yeah, you need to get the Demantra staging table populated properly (using SQL loader or through Collection process in case of integrated EBS-Demantra instance), after which you can run EP_LOAD_MAIN procedure manually or through workflow for downloading data to Demantra base table.

Demantra admin user is "dm/dm" or "sop/sop" based on which module you have installed.

Hi Raj,
Your blog is excellent & helps me greatly! I would like to request you to add 'HOW-TO set-up PTO/TPM settings?'
I need to know how to populate the promotion_data table, create, edit and run a promotion.

Thanks in advance,
Ruby
